If you want to ride but reduce your carbon footprint at the same time, electric scooters are clearly the way to go. Here we take a look at six of the best and most affordable Chinese electrics available to buy in 2021.

Yadea C-line

The Yadea C-line electric scooter is marketed as “the first smart e-scooter.”  For a little under £1,600, you get an electric scooter that can do 28mph which won’t make your eyes water, but it is perfect for your daily commute.

With a large LCD screen, USB connectivity and integrated alarm, the Yadea is very easy to manoeuvre as it weighs just 137lbs and it can be fully charged in six hours.

Super Soco CUx

The Super Soco electric scooter is stylish, powerful and still pretty affordable coming in at around £2,800.

This is another 50cc-equivalent electric scooter, capable of going 40 miles on a charge at speeds of up to 28mph (45 km/h). The removable batteries weigh 22lb. Super Soco offers two years’ warranty, and an extra year for the battery and motor.

Segway eMoped C80

The Segway brand has been acquired by the Chinese company Ninebot, and they have come up with the eMoped electric scooter. While not the most powerful machine on the market, it will only do 20mph with a range of 47 miles, it delivers in terms of smart features.

Its RideyGo system uses sensors to determine when the owner gets on or off and automatically locks or unlocks it. There’s also a GPS-enabled anti-theft system for added security. That’s pretty nifty for just £1,600.

NIU M-Series

The newest model in NIU M-Series Electric Scooter combines modern style with smart design, and now has space for two on this electric scooter. It’s easy to use and ideal for the urban commute.

It has two charging modes and can be fully charged in three-and-a-half hours and give you an impressive range of 80 miles. It’s a lot of bike for just £2,000.

Sunra Grace

The Sunra Grace is powered by an 1,800 Bosch electric motor and has two removable lithium batteries. It has a user-friendly digital dashboard and offers a range of 75 miles and top speed of 31mph.

The electric scooter’s name? You guessed it. It was designed for the graceful biker! The Sunra Grace will set you back around £2,300.

Sym ED1

The ED1 is a rather odd looking little thing but it comes in handy on the urban circuit despite its short range, just 25 miles per charge, and lack of umph, you’ll be hard pushed to get 20mph out of it.

The great thing about this electric scooter is that it’s foldable which makes it possible to park inside or to take it as luggage. It weighs only 40kg and can be carried as a trolley. Some people might think £1,600 is a lot of money for a trolley.
