Buzz1 electric scooter has the look of a vintage Vespa

It may look like a vintage Vespa but the uber cool Buzz1 electric scooter is absolute light years ahead in terms of technology and refinement.

According to its manufacturers the Buzz1 is a “retro modern design which has an innate beauty and simplicity” which, roughly translated, confirms it looks like it is classically crafted in the style of the Italian scooter designer Piaggio.

Buzz1 electric scooter even charges as it brakes

However, appearances can be deceiving. Buzz1 is an eco-friendly scooter with lithium-ion polymer batteries, regenerative electric braking and hydraulic disk braking, meaning the scooter charges as it brakes.

It also has a removable bad weather roof system with solar panels and a slow reverse gear for ease of parking.

The Buzz1 will be Smartphone enabled and connected for handsfree calls on the move. It will also allow you to remotely check the state of the battery on your phone.

Buzz1 electric scooter has extra security measures

The scooters will have a remote for keyless ignition, as well as an alarm/immobiliser. For added security the rear wheel will also lock.

Constructed with a tubular steel frame and fibreglass body – it’s very light and very nippy.

The prototype charges in 12 minutes on “fast charge” and the maximum distance is currently 240km, although the finished model is aiming to hit 400km with a predicted top speed of 120km/h. Impressive.

Buzz1 electric scooter is manufactured in Vietnam

The Buzz 1 is a working prototype, but it won’t be too long before they go into full production at the Saigon Scooter Centre in Vietnam.

Though not yet on the market in the UK – you’ll have to wait until next spring to put one through its paces –  they are expected to cost around £4,000-£5,000.

As we all become more aware of the way our transport choices can affect the environment and our bank balances, more people are choosing electric scooters as a cost-effective way to get around.
