10 of the greatest motorbike music videos ever made part three

It’s time for the greatest motorbike music videos ever made part three, after parts one and two caused some controversy and plenty of suggestions.

Motorbikes as you will agree are one of, if not, the coolest form of transport as many musicians can attest. We have trawled though the internet to find the best, the worst and the weirdest motorcycles in music video history.

So sit back, relax and enjoy watching your favourite singers and bands perform their hit singles on every two-wheeled vehicle imaginable during part three of the greatest motorbike music videos ever made.

1. James Blunt – Bonfire Heart

The video is yet another American travelogue, this time Mr Blunt’s holiday, photographing the people he finds along the way, in this incredibly catchy song.

2. Lorde – Team

The youngest singer-songwriter to score a US number one since I Think We’re Alone Now by Tiffany, Lorde’s powerful voice, original songs and stark, minimal musical style rightly won her a boatload of praise when she released her first album in 2013. The video for her third single, Team, has great motorcycle content, as two young lads do motorcycle jousting in some kind of Hunger Games scenario. Apparently it managed to crash Vevo’s site such was the numbers of people trying to watch it simultaneously.

3. Puff Daddy – I’ll Be Missing You

A tribute to the Notorious BIG recorded by his pal Puff Daddy. The motorcycle content in this video is slim but significant. It opens with him driving his Suzuki down a country road on a bright sunny day.

4. Lady Gaga – John Wayne

Lady Gaga has long been aware of her responsibility to portray motorcycles as cool and good. Not only did she portray herself as a motorcycle on the cover to Born This Way. Her recent video for John Wayne also features some classic motorcycles.

5. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Downtown

Given that this was written as a love song to Macklemore’s moped, it’s appropriate that the video is crammed to the brim with motorcycles of all shapes and sizes. The overall aesthetic is hip hop by way of Technicolor musicals, although you may also be reminded of Uptown Funk.

There’s a very strong argument to be made that this is the high water mark in terms of motorcycle music videos, you’ve got mopeds, you’ve got superbikes, you’ve got offroad bikes, you’ve got choppers of all shapes and sizes including one with a moose head, you’ve got a motorcycle chariot no less, you’ve got scooters and sidecars… it’s a beautiful cavalcade of two-wheeled transport.

6. Kylie Minogue – Timebomb

Everyone’s favourite pop princess has, naturally, harnessed the cool of motorcycles for one of her videos. Released to celebrate her 25th year in the pop industry, this is a celebration of all the things that have helped define her career, plus a motorcycle too. What more could you ask for?

7. Jonathan Boulet – Hold It Down

The great thing about the internet is the ability for even smaller artists to get global attention. Take, for example, Mr Boulet here. He’s an Australian indie musician who’s released albums on cult label Modular Recordings, but thanks to his use of motorcycles in a video he gets a mention here. Thanks internet!

One of the nice things about this video, naturally, is that it’s shot in Australia, so you get ever so slightly different landscape than all the stunning American vistas.

8. Prodigy – Wild Frontier

The video is a rather funky stop motion affair, with the theme of the hunter becoming the hunted. What is it with moose and motorcycles? Between this and Macklemore we’re detecting the beginnings of a theme.

9. Len – Steal my Sunshine

Steal my Sunshine, by Len, was released in 1999. If you like scooters, specifically orange scooters, then brace yourself because this vid’s got a load of them.

10. Big Country – In a Big Country

In a Big Country’s music video follows the four band members as they hunt for treasure while being bested by a female rival treasure hunter.
