CZ, short for Ceská Zbrojovka Strakonice, was a Czech weapons producer, branching out into bikes in 1932. In 1948 CZ merged with Jawa and continued to manufacture bikes under both brand names. In 1993 CZ was bought by Cagiva, who continued production of the CZ and Jawa brands as well as their own bikes at the Czech factories, but production ceased in 1997 after Cagiva ran into difficulties.
