bike insurance

Motorbike goes to Church.

Most churches don’t have any problem with bikers, even big hairy ones can find a welcome in many congregations, as Bikers for Jesus will tell you, if you can persuade them to stop sharing the gospel for a second.

Having said that, it might be a good idea to leave your bike in the car park…

First married man of bikesure – unlucky!!

In history, many weird and wonderful things have happened. We put man on the moon, won 2 world wars and invented the ASBO, but only now has something happened to challenge the greatness of the above mentioned………………one of us has only gone and got bloody married!!!!!!!

Saturday 12th July – saw Tim and Linda tie the knot in sunny old Kings Lynn.Tim and his new wife Linda have been together for 4 years and it was about bloomin time she tied him down!

For those of you who don’t know, Tim joined us in February 2008 on the quotes department. He now holds the title of being the only bloke on quotes who is married! As a biker himself, it seemed only too perfect to be assigned to this department until of course he came onto the floor and was positioned next to ME!!…unlucky!

The day was filled with happiness and joy…blah blah blah……then came the reception. Tim decided to invite some of his work colleagues, here’s what happened!

All at bikesure wish Linda and Tim a happy life together……good luck Linda!

Me at the French Car show

Now before you all go off on one as to why a guy who works for the dam best bike insurance company in the world has posted a section on cars……..allow me to explain!

As you may well know or may not care, I have been attending numerous motorcycle shows around the UK as part of Bikesure. These have proven to be a success and the feedback has been incredibly positive.
Following on from this the lovely team in marketing then asked me if I would be willing to attend the French Car show at Rockingham. This is an annual show that Adrian Flux are proud to sponsor and as the title suggests, its for owners of French cars. Now you may be thinking that the show was full of “chavs”, loud music, fast driving and beer…..and you would probably be right…….but there was something else…….something I think any hot blooded male would appreciate and one of the main reasons I said yes to the show……………

FLUX BABES
Not only are these the girls we take to a number of our shows, including the BMF in Peterborough ( see below ) but they actually work for the company in every day jobs, so as you can imagine getting up for work everyday can be a real pain!!

In between me mopping up every ones drawl and picking up their jaws, I was part of a team offering quotes out to the public. I did unfortunately find myself forgetting where I was and asking questions like ” so its a quote on your Peugeot 206, do you have any motorcycle no claims bonus? ” Needless to say I looked a bit of a d**k.
But enough of me talking, I know what you really want to see so I will entertain the masses:

Proof that I was actually doing some work at the show

And finally……check out my pink t-shirt/hat combo……awesome I know!

Road Tax Changes

This was bought to my attention a little while ago by a friend of mine Deano who thinks you all should be made aware of these changes.

Keep up the good work Deano.

Please check out the petition and add your name to lend weight.

Changes to the law mean cars emitting less than 100g of CO2 per kilometre travelled would be exempt from paying Vehicle Excise Duty (road tax), while motorcycles are still required to pay.

Your Chancellor Alistair Darling in his first budget outlined this last week, under the auspices of rewarding motorists for driving ‘green’ vehicles.

Despite Darling’s aim, the rate of road tax paid by motorcyclists is set to double in 2009, with the annual charge for a typical 125cc commuter bike set to grow from £15 per year at present, to £33 in 2009.

This makes nonsense of the revised rates of vehicle excise duty, as motorcycles tend to emit less CO2 and use less fuel than cars, with the average CO2 output from motorcycles at 110g/km.

So why do those who ride greener two wheeled vehicles, use less road space and do not contribute to congestion get penalised whilst 4 wheel motorist whose vehicles use under 100g/km are exempt from road tax…. Makes a mockery of your plans

Bikesure at the UK launch of the Can-Am Spyder

Tuesday 13th May saw part of Silverstone racecourse taken over by Can-Am for them to showcase their new “Spyder” to prospective clients. The Spyder is a revolutionary new vehicle that combines the performance of a motorcycle, with the extra stability of a trike.

The main emphasis for the day was for clients to come down for the day and try out the vehicle for themselves and really get a hands on feel.

As the biggest insurer of trikes in the UK, Bikesure were asked to come along on the day and offer quotations on the spot and share an insight on what it takes to get it road legal. Attending was myself and show virgin Helen who seemed to enjoy the day basking in the hot spring sunshine whilst quoting and Dave our dealer liaison representative.
The day was a great success with all our quotes bringing near enough the same reaction “is that all?” This is a great indication that our markets are ever getting stronger and we are always looking to push a more tailor made approach to specialist vehicles.
Unfortunately the nearest I got to trying out on of these great looking bikes was sitting on it and making the noise of the engine like you do when your 4. To be fair my mental age isn’t too far off that so its understandable.
Stay tuned

Bikesure at the BMF Peterborough

Its been a while but I’m back!!

Thanks for all the lovely cards and gifts…who am I kidding, the only post I got was bloody bills!
I digress…….

The 17th and 18th of May saw thousands of bikers descend on the Peterborough showground for the biggest outdoor bike event of the 2008 calender. Attending for the first time was Bikesure and to make sure we got noticed we invited 2 of our Flux babes along to make me and Jon look good. If your not familiar with the Flux babes…SHAME on you…..they are a collection of beautiful woman who accompany us to numerous shows in the year and they all actually work for the company!…..see below 2 good reasons why I love coming to work.

( I mean the girls….not Jon )

The whole show was set out so that the girls went out and gave out our goody bags full of sweets, key rings, magazines and bike stands….no expenses spared! Whilst me and Jon were offering free quotations there and then to anyone on anything!

Needless to say the tradition of the good old British weather having its say on the Saturday didn’t disappoint. The heavens decided to open and it pi**ed it down on the Saturday but that didn’t seem to put off the thousends that came flooding through the door.

As a whole it was good to see so many Bikesure goody bags being carried around the show and the quotes we did on the day seemed to be very well received by the public. An ever growing sign that Bikesure Insurance are becoming a major contender in the motorcycle, quad, trike and custom bike market.
We plan to be at the BMF next year but a lot bigger and better so put this date in your diary and make sure you come say hi…..or just grab loads of freebies!!

You’ve Got To Feel Sorry For This Bloke

Now you’ve got to feel sorry for this bloke, Imagine you out for a nice Sunday afternoon ride cruising down the dual carriage way when OOPS your bike goes one-way and you go another,

What would make this worse how about you and your bike sliding along the road at 85mph passing a speed camera and FLASH, not only do you face reporting a single vehicle fault claim but also a possible speeding ticket, although I suppose technically you could claim at the time of the incident you were not RIDING the bike,

This poor 50 year old Dutch motorcyclist was clocked at 137kmp (85mph) on the A28 at Staphorst after laying down his Kawasaki ZRX 1200, on the sunny side of things this gentleman was cleared of the speeding charge,

UTAG – A Brilliant Idea

Like many of you last Wednesday I went and bought my weekly copy of MCN and out fell a leaflet advertising something called UTAG.

Now like the beautiful Suzy Perry, I think this is a MUST HAVE PIECE OF KIT.
As bikers we all know that we take our lives into our own hands every time we go for a ride, be it from lorry drivers who leave diesel on the roads, idiots using mobile phones while driving or local government agencies using steel cables as crash barriers.

While most of us carry our drivers licence with us as ID and also perhaps are registered as organ donors but what about emergency contact details or important medical information.

The UTAG looks like a set of dog tags, but with modern USB technology also contains important medical and contact details that you wish to put on including, Personal details, Picture, Emergency contacts, Doctors contact details, Medical information and all this can be read in 7 languages. All for the grand price of £19.99

Now personally I think these make sense, so I’ve all ready ordered mine.
